Our Learning model (Learn by Doing) was proposed by psychologists Dr. John Dewey (1859-1852).
Project Based Learning, (hereafter referred to as PBL) is an approach to instruction that is derived from the idea that students should be doing a task to aid in the learning process.
Your child is completely involved in their learning experience by maximizing their abilities through hands-on-learning (providing the opportunity to engage with physical tools and materials which will enhance and complement the real-world exploration).
Following the R.E.I.D. process your child will progress through a cycle of course work. First, collaborative learning on a topic to go deeper into a subject; Second, select an individual project based on their preference; Last, create a representation of the project which will consist of a display of their work where they can share the project and reflect on the work with the community.
The educator is not to impose certain ideas or to form certain opinions for your child but is there as collaborator to help your child to build the skills to extend those explorations into projects. Our role is to expand students’ ideas about what they are capable of.
PBL is long-term in nature, meaning that a project-based learning experience will continue for at least 3 months. Every quarter a new project will be introduced. Topics will be framed for exploration and your child will be encouraged to take on projects they are passionate about.
